The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) is proud to announce a new partnership with Sporting Giants, sport and sustainability experts, to develop an ambitious sustainability strategy that will help secure the future of shooting sport while contributing to global environmental protection efforts.

An 18-month development project is now underway, running until the end of 2026.

Sporting Giants will provide the ISSF with strategic sustainability expertise to:

1. Align with the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) goals to safeguard Olympic status.

2. Build credibility through a unified, science-based strategy.

3. Consolidate existing initiatives into a clear and actionable framework.

4. Support alignment and knowledge-sharing across ISSF Member Federations globally.

5. Inspire athletes and engage youth through visible sustainability actions.

The project will be delivered in three key phases, focusing on:

· The development of the overall sustainability strategy,

· Implementation aligned with international frameworks, and

· Provision of Carbon Literacy training for ISSF staff.

Through this strategic development, the ISSF is reinforcing its commitment to the Olympic Movement’s values and to improving sustainability and reducing carbon emissions across the sport. Sporting Giants will also provide guidance on aligning with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

As part of the collaboration, Sporting Giants will conduct a comprehensive audit of ISSF operations to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. Plans are also in place to establish a Sustainability Advisory Group, bringing together representatives from different sectors of shooting sport.

The strategy will also seek to align the ISSF with the Sports for Nature Framework, supported by the IOC and currently endorsed by several International Sport Federations.

In addition, the ISSF will begin measuring its carbon emissions and commit to reducing them by 50%. The federation also plans to sign up to the UNFCCC Sports for Climate Action Framework, co-developed by the United Nations and the IOC. The ISSF aims to demonstrate significant sustainability progress in the lead-up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and continuing through to Brisbane 2032.
